Michael Rosenberg Named Health Care Hero for Innovation in Clinical Research

Durham, North Carolina—March 22, 2013

Health Decisions, Inc. today announced that The Triangle Business Journal has named CEO Michael Rosenberg, MD, MPH its 2013 Health Care Hero in the Innovator/Researcher category. Dr. Rosenberg was honored at an awards dinner March 21 at the Renaissance Raleigh North Hills Hotel.

“Our winners this year represent another class of exceptional heroes,” says Bryan Hamilton, publisher of Triangle Business Journal. “Whether serving those in need or working on breakthrough innovations in health care, these winners are changing people’s lives. We thank each of our finalists for their years of hard work and passion to make a difference.”

“It is a great honor for the leader of a Clinical Research Organization to receive The Triangle Business Journal’s Health Care Heroes Award,” Dr. Rosenberg said. “At Health Decisions, we conduct clinical trials and develop technologies and processes to make new medicines and medical devices available earlier and at lower cost to the patients who need them. Rather than engaging directly in patient care, we enable frontline health-care professionals to improve care for patients with many different health conditions. I would like to thank Brian Hamilton and the editors at The Triangle Business Journal for recognizing the important role that clinical research plays in health care in North Carolina and around the world.”

The Triangle Business Journal organized the Health Care Heroes Awards to honor Triangle individuals and organizations “for putting innovation and compassion to work to improve the human condition.” The awards dinner assembled “leaders of all segments of the Triangle’s health care industry to recognize its top performers and their extraordinary achievements.” The awards dinner featured a video of Dr. Rosenberg. The journal also published a Q&A with Dr. Rosenberg March 22.

Finalists for the awards included 29 physicians, researchers, nurses, volunteers and administrators from organizations including the University of North Carolina Lineberger Comprehensive Cancer Center, Duke University Heart Center, Rex Healthcare Foundation and WakeMed Health & Hospitals.
