Health Decisions Makes Shortlist for 2005 Scrip Awards – Best Supporting Role
Chapel Hill, NC —
Tuesday, November 29, 2005 —
A spokesman for PJB Publications, the
publisher of Scrip Magazine, a major pharmaceutical industry periodical, announced that
Health Decisions, Inc. of Chapel Hill, NC has been selected as a finalist in the 2005 Scrip
Awards competition.
Alongside categories such as “Best New Drug” and “Pharma Company of the Year,” the
“Best Supporting Role” category recognizes the value and pervasiveness of clinical
research outsourcing in today’s drug development environment - specifically the
contributions made by CROs. Health Decisions was selected as a finalist in this category
along with industry giants such as Quintiles, Chiltern International, and i3 Research.
Criteria for selection centered around five components:
• Providing consistently high quality work;
• Offering a wide set of capabilities and strengths;
• Exceeding sponsor expectations;
• Adding value and going the extra mile;
• Proactive and innovative strategies and capabilities.
The judges at Scrip determined that, though Health Decisions is a small, niche player
when compared to the likes of Quintiles, the bottom-line contributions the company
makes to its customers are undeniable. The Health Decisions entry cited a recent
oncology study in which an adaptive design approach was used, ultimately saving the
sponsor a year of development time and several million dollars in direct costs. The key
to the success of this program was Health Decisions’ proprietary systems that provided
near-real-time access to study progress. Indeed, the prevailing theme of the Health
Decisions entry was the value of reengineered processes enabled by best-of-breed
technologies. The Scrip judges found it compelling enough to place Health Decisions at
the top of the list of small CROs.
The awards ceremony is scheduled for December 7th at London’s Grosvenor House
Hotel.
